As I have been taking a deep dive into the BC curriculum while I plan my units for my practicum, I am noticing how much the BC ministry of education is promoting project based learning and inquiry. I think this is a great model and then was thinking about how G-suite can be used to enhance and complement this already great learning model.
Some ideas I came up with were:
- Google Slides for presentations
- Google Docs for reports
- Google Drive for organizing all those files, research links and documents
- Google Classroom for handing in projects and for keeping track of where students are at
I do think that the use of G-Suite should be limited to older students (grades 4+). Before this, I feel that using an online platform can be more of a hinderance and frustration for students then a help.
As well, inquiry can come in many forms from project based learning to a structured inquiry to a free inquiry. These can be built as students become older and more proficient in conducting inquiries.
A motto I keep repeating to myself is :
Only use technology if it adds to the experience.

As well, I wanted to update you on the results of the Google Form I had on my previous blog post. I had 4 responses and mostly correct responses. I really like how Google Forms aggregates the data, but also has an option to see the individual responses or download the individual responses as a .csv file.

I also wanted to share that you can make rubrics in forms (could be useful for marking inquiry projects?).
