This week we are exploring Google Classroom. If you haven’t already, check out my previous posts in this series on Google Drive, Google Keep and Google Forms.

Google Classroom allows for the sharing and marking of assignments online, along with the sharing of additional resources, and multimedia lessons.

I personally think that google classroom is more applicable to the middle school and high school level. I do not see a place for it in early elementary classrooms.

However, there are lots of useful tools available within the platform to teach kids about digital tools and literacy, to help teachers stay organized, to provide timely and effective feedback and to create more accessible assignments and presentations of information. Google classroom also works well as a hybrid or digital classroom and can be very useful if students miss school due to illness or family vacation etc.

It also looks like there are TONS of plugins which I am excited to explore. Anyone have any favorites they recommend?

Here is a short screencast I created going over some of the features in Google Classroom I found useful.
