This week, we learned about video storytelling and creating interactive videos. These tools tap into the multimedia learning theory and provide another way for students to access information. We had a guest speaker from Live it Earth and he discussed how the company came about out of a need during COVID lockdowns and has grown from their. I thought that the content and units were really interesting and appreciated how they brought in local voices and had both online AND offline components to the lessons. I will definitely look into trying them out in my future classroom. (P.S. -did you know every BC, Yukon and NWT teacher is eligible for a free full access account?)

I tried my hand at video storytelling by creating a short intro video to 3 free online text editing tools I like and use. They are: Grammarly, Hemingway and Bon Patron. I then added interactive features using H5P (a plugin for WordPress).

Which version do you prefer?

Creating the interactions was a lot more work (probably because this was my first time doing it) but I definitely think it improves the video.
